The environment – from the physical environment, to climate change, to the air that we breathe – is literally vital. We must have a ‘Green Brexit’ and there is no reason we should not – Britain has led in Europe on tackling climate change as on other things.
I have supported the new Environment Bill, and am pressing for more action on air quality and on climate change, particularly on power generation (and batteries) and de-carbonising transport. East Hampshire has itself long been a leader and innovator in environmental matters, and I believe can continue to show a strong example to others – I will continue doing what I can to support our active local groups, alongside national action; and I strongly support EHDC’s tree-planting initiative.
